I Too
I, too am American
I am the connector of two worlds
People make fun, and point when they see
Me and my white girlfriend
But I ignore them
And love her
Who’s the stupider one?
Tomorrow,
I’ll still be loving her
When people make fun and point
But my love will be passionate
And they will wonder:
“Why can’t I love a woman like that?”
Besides,
Love is more powerful than race
If only they would see that
I, too am American
