Baile de la Vida
I dance
As I awake
Floating and cascading
Through a sheltered veil
Of innocence
I dance
As I experience contentment
Sashaying between the
Rays of sunshine
That flood a floor of
Sunflower petals
I dance
As wisdom ignites
Leaping in its abstract wonders
Drowning myself
In its infinite delights
I dance
As pain grips me
Throwing my tortured corpse
Against barbed wire
Skies
I dance
As I lift a prayer
Spreading my arms
In broken rhythm to
A god I fear I’ve lost
I dance
As anger invades my eyes
Thrashing and fighting
Underneath a towering boiled
Waterfall
I dance as I fall
Laying gracefully, silently
Upon shattered glass
Yet I dance
As I am freed
Letting my body become an
Anthem
To all who will listen
And watch my performance
Again and again
