Oh loving river, take me under your current,
Sweep me away from the sins I have made.
Toss me beneath your rapid waves,
Stirring and sloshing water around in my brain.
Slip through my fingers and toes,
A wild rush of lively delight.
Dance around the curves of my face,
As you play and yank at my curly locks.
The stabs of pain are hardly felt
When you lovingly toss me against the mossy rocks.
Your deep depths too mysterious to ponder,
Filled with whirls and rushes of white, blue, and green.
The sunlight glimmering above the water,
Only mocks the hopelessness to never recover.
Seize me in your cool waiting arms,
Whisk me off to a land without harm.
Silver bubbles of air dancing out of reach,
Mocking my desperation and the need to breathe.
Staring down into the face of relief,
Silent, sweet blackness;
Finally at peace.
