The Shadows of a Halo
An inverse relationship
as calculated and nerdy
with those subtle hints
of coming close
but never quite there
We come together a single X
as open and limitless
but we must function
so we hide beneath the shade
of that ominous solemn One
They say we're
"limited" by this life
always to sustain those lines;
that we must leap off the precipice
and play with "perfection!"
Yet we'll take our solace
in a place of no lies
forever pushing forward
with a dream that'll never die
Without the awe of "a we"
though no less empty
we see the bliss
in this anomaly of a kiss
One without lips
that consists
of simple sentiments
and flirts with its asymptote
but makes clear
it shant come too near
So we watch the others
elliptic and parabolic
climb upon those highs
and fall with faded sighs
And we look
with gleaming sly grins
well aware
that without peak
it keeps us from the bleak
Let's live an "almost be"
for all eternity;
Here's looking at you, kid,
a Friend without end.
