The Abyss
I am laying here, at the bottom of what seems like an abyss. It’s dark, and cold. I can not move. My body is stiff, and aching, as though I fell the whole way down. As I lay here, a light comes towards me. One, single, white light. It stops directly in front of my face, and I see you. You and I, and the promises that we made. I see us on a gorgeous day in what looks like a park. We’re walking down a pathway. Laughing, smiling, happy, and in love.
We are walking until the pathway ends, at the mouth of the abyss. You go ahead towards the edge of the mouth, but I stay back. I don’t want to fall, not again. You promise that you’ll never let me fall, and I trust you. I go to you and we just stand there, me in your arms. I love you, and you love me. You swore you did. Then you see her, and you push me over the edge. You’re holding my heart in your hand, showing no remorse as you watch me fall.
