As Normal
I wake up,
I sit up in bed
Then leave my sheet
As normal,
I get up slow
Holding my head-
Then brush my teeth
As normal,
I go to the kitchen,
Turn on the coffee
Then try the heat
As normal,
I toast my bread-
Jelly my toast
Then sit to eat
As normal,
My coffee’s done
I pour my cup
And I’ll make it sweet
As normal,
I head back to the room-
Turn on the game
And grab a seat
As normal,
I flick my thumbs
And grid my teeth as I face defeat
As normal,
But I figure while I wait,
I’ll send a tweet
Just like normal,
It’ll say,
“Nothing ventured. Nothing gained”
For all of those who are caged
In a maze-
of their own ways-
Where they’ll stay and grow grays,
So Maybe…
They can truly say,
That they went out once and enjoyed the day.
