Lacking fuel and oxygen, smothered by the increasingly oppressing force of all she couldn’t understand and all she wasn’t, the flames of the fires she hid away for the cold winter nights dwindled, reducing to nothing but embers and spitting sparks of last hopes and final goodbyes that disappeared quickly in the chilly air, the warm red thing she once held close to her bones now suffocated and freezing and not even there.
