Pretend
You told me never to leave
Yet you're the one that's gone
You told me never to cheat
Yet your the one who ever did wrong
You told me never lie
Yet you lied through your teeth
You told me I'd never cry
Yet there's tears falling down my cheeks
You held my hand
Yet never tight
You touched my heart
After every fight
You hugged me close
But it wasn't real
You kissed my lips
So love I'd feel
You told me to change
Knew I'd do it for you
Told me to wait
I'd soon get the truth
You lied to my face
And didn't care
But I never spoke up
I didn't dare
But the first time you hurt me
I knew I had to get out
I asked you to leave
But you turned me down
This wasn't me
I soon realized
I could finally see
The ugly lies
I turned love into fear
And fear into strength
I looked in a mirror
Saw my true face
I washed away the tears
Walked out of your door
I didn't need to pretend
To love you anymore
