waves
a dance
by the sea
with no one to see in the shade of the palms
here there are no lights in the darkness of the night
only the stars stretched across the sky
they blur together in a colorful spiral as u spin to a dizzying stop
it's good it's dark
he can't see u blush
he smiles
and extends his hand for another dance
ur lips curve into a smile as u brush his hand with ur fingertips
and then u run
across the sand
the water lapping at ur feet
he laughs
and gives chase
ur hair streams out behind u like a golden banner in the wind
u fall into the sand
and wait for him to catch up
he falls to the sand next to u
his eyes sparkle with light from the stars above
and u gaze up at them with him
he points out constellations
there's orion
and there's a pegasus
both undimmed in glory
proud and beautiful
shining down since the dawn of time
u point out constellations too
but they're ur own
pieces of ur imagination
pieces of u
there a ship
sailing into the sun
carrying us off to a distant land
or there an arrow
arcing across the dome of the sky
through the dark blue expanse
but where did the arrow come from?
there! the moon, the silver huntress who rules her domain
pale and cold
but a beautiful maiden nonetheless
yet for all her beauty, perfection, and strength
u do not envy her
for u have something she will never have
admiration?
no
nor physical attributes
for she has all of them and more
but u
u have love
worth all the beauty
all the strength
and all the perfection of the world
ur breath catches as u realize this
how lucky u r
he hears
and turns to look at u
eyebrows raised, questioning
he starts a question
but u silence him with kiss
his eyes widen
then close
u close ur eyes with him
and time seems to slow
like a drop of rain
hanging
waiting to fall
it is a sweet moment
untainted
there is no desire
there is time enough for that another time
no this
this is pure
and as u break away
ur eyes flutter open
u feel light, eyes bright
gravity has no hold on u
slowly he rises
u hold our ur hand
and he pulls u up with him
then he turns
and faces the lightening sky
streaks of gray brushed lightly across the canvas
almost as though the sky grows old
with pale wrinkles
he walks in the sea
u follow
hand trailing across the
water
ripples in it’s wake
he walks out farther
farther than u've ever gone before
and suddenly ur afraid
afraid for him
afraid for u
what will happen?
no terrifying thoughts present themselves
it is merely the unknown
the mystery that sends fear into ur heart
clouding ur vision
until u want to look away
he notices ur hesitation
and comes back to u
and stormy clouds of doubt break
fading as quickly as they had come
there is nothing to be afraid of
not here with him
taking ur hand he walks into the waves
but again this fear takes hold
and u pull against him
so he lets go
and walks through
and from the other side
he beckons
u sway, back and forth
unable to decide
u look at the shore
and then the waves again
u hesitate
then ur resolve hardens
and without a second glance
u follow him through the waves

Lovely, your imagery is lovely. The story in the poem really holds your attention.
The one problem with it is I'm not sure I really like all the text speak in the poem, it's really distracting; and there were a few typos, but those were probably accidental. Other than that, everything in the poem is perfect :) Your poem was a pleasure to read!
I LOVE THIS POEM! It's so romantic and lovely. This are the kind of moments I imagine having with my sweetheart. :)
It's very sweet. On Teen Ink, I usually don't have the patience to read very long poems like yours but this one, I had to read the whole thing.
Yeah, it was that good.
