Dear Dad
Dear Dad,
Every time I start to whine
And the times I can’t help but cry
Your support does not wait to shine,
Even through that sophisticated black tie.
Every time I giggle
Or even smile in all the wrong places,
I see you wriggle
With the pride that you are not making all mistakes
Whether I am happy or upset for no reason,
I can see you struggle and make sure,
I know you will be there through every season,
And I can see it even behind that demure.
No matter how much I try
I can’t make up what you’ve done for me
So let me apologize from the beginning
Because whatever I have put you through,
You have taken it while still grinning.
