Strung along
creamy memories
like precious gems
sit heavy in my heart
and the day never ends
the trees ask me questions
riddles of the soul
my mind still sways
but my limits are full
‘Who do you love?’
brushes against my face
shivers down my spine
with paramount disgrace
it twirls into my hair
until I pick them out
keep them in my pocket
as I wander about
‘Why do you love him?’
the ocean seethes
stings my cuts
while they bleed
the rain whispers goodnight
and ‘Today was the day’
I close my eyes and think
‘I never loved him, anyway’
