ad infinitum
As time passes by so do we sink,
and wallow in our own filth.
It is beyond what one can think,
the depth of despair I am with.
For I've been swept by that wicked tide,
to conform to it I could not hide.
My spirit is willing, not this flesh,
so in every day my sin is fresh.
My spirit burns within my self,
berating me in painful conviction,
for what I've done for my flesh's sake.
Alas ! Surely, this is it I say.
For as seven times a man may fall,
yet I recall of more than seven,
the times when I fell, knowingly even.
So I'm sure His grace has left,
and that I'm past being forgiven.
'For he knoweth our frame,
he remembereth that we are dust.
...He is slow in anger, plenteous in mercy.
As far as the east is from the west,
so far hath he removed our sin.
...His love lasts forever,ad infinitum.'
I recall these words in comfort,
and my flaming spirit is quenched.
My spirit is free from consuming guilt,
and in atonement my faith is built.
I will not die when I fall.
I will not lie where I fall.
But I shall rise from shame and guilt,
for His mercy and love are without end.
Ad infinitum...
