September 11
We may have burnt, but we have not died
Like the phoenix, we shall rise
Rise again from the flames of hate
Rise again from the ashes of fear
Rise again with a purpose
And we will succeed.
Not by standing on the steps of egotism
But by standing on stones of determination.
Not by rising on plumes of others’ failures
But on words of kindness and compassion.
Instead of surrounding ourselves with walls of aloofness
We will accept that what is done is done
That history has already been written
But is not finished -
We will write the next chapter.
And we will not repeat the plot of the last few pages,
We will never let it happen again.
We will forgive, for we are better people for it.
We will forgive, yes we will forgive,
But we will never forget.
