The Guy with the Tattoo
People don't see him like I do
He is the most amazing person
I have ever known
Why did he come back into my life
After so many years of silence
When we were little
I would claim him as my best friend
We would play for hours
Making up silly games
That eight year olds make
But then I would not be able to see you
For who knows how many years
I would miss you for all of them
Even though I would be placed
In the dark depths of your mind
And in every story
There is a light at the end of the tunnel
I saw you in the most random of places
At the little restaurant downtown
Where we use to go with our parents
After every Sunday service
As they always say
The people that come back into your life
Were meant to stay there
Now I can't believe how much time has gone
You are now a bass player in a band
And have a job at the restaurant
You have accomplished so much
While I so little
We spent hours there at that table
Taking and trying to make up
For all those years lost
I'm glad that you came back
For the sands of time
You came right when I needed someone special
Everything happens for a reason
Now you've turned my life upside down
As you did when we were little
I am proud to all you
My best friend
Who is that guy with the tattoo
