Curtains Up
I stand on the stage
my decision not yet made,
the crowd beyond the curtains
talk and laugh knowing
they're in for a fantastic show.
I take a deep breath
wondering if It'll still be my last.
The crowd is shushed and
the lights go out.
I take my stand on the stool.
On the edge of their seats
they wait for curtains up.
Slowly and silently they
reveal their hidden secret.
The crowd gasps, mouths held open.
The stool beneath my feet
now lays on its side.
My feet and body suspended.
My act forever finished.
The curtain falls.
