I Know

I know its an act.
I know its not real,
But I don't know why I pretended to feel,
that it's otherwise.
I know I wasn't the first choice,
I know that I pretend,
but believe it or not,
I'm not as dumb as I seem.
I guess in the long run,
I'm just searching to feel,
to pretend that's real,
because pretending is better than,
realizing the truth.
Though I do both,
and wish I did not.
I realize the truth,
though I wish it not so.
I know its an act.
I know its not real.
But I don't know why I pretend to feel,
that its otherwise.
