The Pretender
I am the pretender, the liar, the faker
Plastic skin, plastic lies, plastic life
A barbie doll, blonde, skinny, and insecure
A ball of clay, molded by other people’s thoughts, dreams, hopes
A puppet being pulled in a thousand different directions
People’s words mixing, intertwining, tangling
Being spat out of my mouth, oddly formed
Like a contorted face, pieced together by a million different hands
I am the actress in a play,
Having my lines handed to me
My emotions, my thoughts, my dreams borrowed
I am the pretender
