Trees of Ash
Trees of dark ash
Surround the forest of gray
Red embers spark beneath
My feet on the orange grass of blaze
Black dulls the sky
Smell of smoke arises
From the dead forest day
It brushes and sways above the loam
Mounting high and above
Almost reaching the sky
My hand touches the wilted foliage
That runs through my fingers like sand
Smell of demise burns my eyes
Leaving a trail of weeps
Left to follow
I hear screams and whimpers coming
Deep down the dark trail where
Misery lies ahead
Leaving most to their grave while
Sadden faces leaves memorizing
Thoughts
Clouds run heavily through the sky
Of murk
Daze and bewilderment
Stains faces of those who
Watch it smolder and
Splinter to the ground of blackness
Dreary is what fills
The existence that defies
Life and the
Trees of Ash
