“Letting Her Go”
Mirrors surround her
Reflecting the white dress
Silence fills the room
Her eyes tell us
What her mouth cannot
This is the one
Her skin glows
Glittering bead work
Ivry cloth swirling
As she spins on the stand
I hug her tight
Tears filling our eyes
Her’s of joy
Mine of loss
Gone is my sister
With whom I played
This is my sister
I’m giving away
I’ll still see her
That I know
She is still there
But not here
She’ll be moving out
Her room will be empty
And cold without her
I look at her smile
Full of bliss
I have to let her go
