Abandoned
Sunken walls lean against the porch
Paint crumbles away in flakes,
Rusty chains clink against a broken swing,
And punched out glass litters the floor
Wood now sodden, its gloss long faded
Holes in the floor boards,
As I cautiously step along
Through a house I once called home
Chairs cast aside,
Burn marks licking the walls
The rickety stairs no longer safe to climb
A crack tares up my home
Abandoned hopes and dreams
A doll forgotten in the rubble,
Childhood now lost
Dust encloses me….
