Summer Joys
My face slams into the water
it fills my mouth and nose.
I quickly try to bring my head
Above the surface, and turn my body
Deep breaths of cool, crisp air
Are sucked into my lungs.
I grab the rope and on my back,
turn my body around to face the boat.
What is under me? I briefly wonder,
before the boat accelerates and
I am violently jerked upright.
Now on two feet, gliding over the surface
the dark blackish blue depths pass underfoot.
The wind blows my hair back, and
sends a chill through my soaking body.
I can smell how clean the air is,
the smell of pine and the
coming rain filling my nostrils
I am so alive,
the adrenaline coursing in my body.
Over and over again i repeat this process,
Living for the rush and intense excitement.
Summer joys.
