Playing Piano
When I play piano,
I forget to breath,
Forget to live,
Forget to see.
My body goes numb
From the pain I’ve suffered
And the love I’ve given.
I feel sane and normal,
Yet a freak,
All the same.
I forget to be alike,
And forget to be unique,
So, when I play piano,
I soon begin to see.
broken eyes and
A gorgeous smile,
Run through my fingers,
And seep in to the keys.
They melt in to the music and into song
But only a quick glimpse is caught.
And when they are barely visible, yet,
Obviously conspicuous,
The player is transformed
into a monster with a heart.
Running from her feelings
And playing her soul out,
she’ll take a different route.
One with stones
And pebbles and mud
A bumpy, smooth, trilling path.
Where the notes played surprise you
And the feelings arise in you.
Then, you’ll hear the groaning moan,
The ache of the piano.
From all her pain,
Rushing into the piano,
A quick tempo but a soft “ping!”
From the last note played
Comes a chorus of hate.
And to her hate,
The piano fills
Her head with comfort
He feels for her
He takes the blows
One by one.
And the burden comes off
Her petite intricate shoulders
The piano feels for her
Releasing the day’s love and
Inevitable hate,
That pained her all day,
Now forever trapped in an endless song.
