I am From...
I am from the stack of newspapers
Sitting by the fireplace ready to be burned by the hot coals
From the mowed green grass in the backyard
Growing inch by inch every night and day
I am from friendly neighbors
Always saying “Hello!” When I ride my bike by their different colored houses
From fall trees surrounding us like a huge cereal bowl
I am from old photos and memories
Hiding away in an old money box
From deer meat and beans
The deer which my grandpa shot the day before
I am from the every day saying
“Remember to do the dishes!”
From the divorce between my parents
And beginning a life with my step-dad, Michael
I am from the big city, where I was born
But I was raised in a small country town called North Chatham, New Hampshire.
