Descending Staircase

She viewed her life as though it were a spiraling staircase that only went down, and at the bottom her fate waited. A pit of bone chilling darkness. Full of hatred and decay. Nothing but pain and ruin. No where to go but down. With each step she took, the more gruesome the landing of the staircase got. It was a disaster zone that hadn't quite happened, but she could clearly see it coming.
