Carnage
The emeralds
That shine deep
Inside the whites of your eyes
Remind me
Of moments
When I would kiss them goodnight
The prickly hairs
That glow gold
Off the edges of your head
Tell stories
Of times when
I’d run my fingers through them
The gritty bones
That stick out
Through the arc of your thick spine
Keep secrets
About how
I would push them against mine
The broken veins
That burst out
Through the white of your soft skin
Connect us
To good things
Our icy touch could have been
The lofty voice
That sings deep
From the hole in your black throat
Stays still as
I read lies
Inside every word you wrote
Your long body
That could stand
Five inches taller than mine
Was supposed
To protect
Me from my own killing mind
But your big heart
That I felt
Beat from inside of your chest
Was not big
Enough for
Us, so I laid you to rest.
