The Fear of Time
Another night passes,
With a bottle in my hands
Another hour sure to come,
With pills that never end.
I can feel the rush take over
The poison sinking in,
My head is floating far away
My heart is caving in.
I open my bloodshot eyes
There's a whole new world insight--
All of this to my surprise
It all gives me a fright.
I turn around and see
An assortment of watches and clocks
Each one staring back at me
Each one ready to mock
I studied the clocks real closely
My name engraved in each
Their hands move simultaneously
My heart is skipping beats
The clocks begin to melt
As they slowly move to twelve
My heart begins to burn with pain
I scream and I cry out
I could hear a voice clearly
It says, "Change your ways"
"Life is but a matter of time"
"You just let yours tick away."
I close my eyes once more
And when I open them again
I was back in my little room
A loner, with no friends
I know my life has come to this
I know it's time to change,
So I smash the bottle quickly
And throw my pills away
