At Night

In the darkness of night
You start to hear that rapping sound
That banging sound
That really loud sound
You creep forward
And more forward
That bright light blinds you
That coldness bites you
That booming sound bothers you
The light dims
That chill leaves
That sound tones down
You see the light,
Radiating from the swinging lantern in the corner
You see the warmth,
Coming from the fire piled high with logs in the corner
You hear the banging,
Coming from the drunk at the bar
It means nothing
You leave
