My Irreplaceable Friend
That cold winters day
The sun beginning to set
The trees looking bare
The moon and the sky have just met
I walk down the path
Tears staining my face
As I see the motionless cage
My heart begins to race
I begin to pray to him
That he will be spared
But when I look inside
My sadness is shared
I sink to the ground
More dead than alive
And I pray more and more
And into the pit of sadness, I dive
Maybe that night
When I prayed to you
When I said I wanted him to be safe
When I wanted him not be moved
You said
Its time for him to go
Maybe that’s what you meant
For into a safe place
He was sent
I love you my irreplaceable friend
Don’t worry about me
For in time my heart will mend
But I do warn you it will be slow
For my tears are threatening not to go
Please keep him safe Lord
For I have failed
I have sent him away
And to your paradise he has sailed
