What's Left
All is silent, all is done
Nothing cometh, nothing goeth,
All that’s left is the remnant of the aftermath
What once shone now ebbs to stone
Still and silent
Like life once vital and now suicidal
What was fleeting and buoyant
sinks and leaves a reeking taste
What is rotten and stowed behind a veneer
of what seemed clear
pleasures,
melts into the truth
of the uncouth.
It always was, is, and will be-
all that was ever left
