Winter's Welcome
I'll never forget
The velvet snow drifts
Bundling the streets
Into aching silence
And I'll always see
That lithe lacy gray
Delicate as breath
Descending like grace
The image remains
Of clumped icy branches
Bobbing on the wind
So old and content
Mostly I'll remember
The cold on my face
And the way you whispered
“Welcome.”
