Someone Who You Will Know
Do you know who I am?
I’m not just a ribbon
I am one more voice that will not speak
A pair of eyes that cannot see
Another person that you will not meet
Do you know who I am?
I am your grandfather or grandmother
I am your husband or your wife
I am your brother or your sister
I am your neighbor, a teacher, a stranger,
Or maybe just a friend
Do you know who I am?
I am a person that just came back,
Or lost,
Dead,
Maybe I just left
You may not know who I am,
But I do know who you are.
You are the one who I’m protecting,
Because I chose to fight for you.
Some do not like me
Some do not know me
Some may even call me a hero
But whether I am here, there, or anywhere
I am from this country
I am a Veteran for OUR country
