I came a long way, despite the obstacles that stood before me
This is my life and I want to show the world the potential of what I can possibly be
Statistics and society was against me but yet I still made it to college
It takes a powerful person to persevere through negativity so when you gain power is when you will gain knowledge

We complain about our problems not knowing that there are people out there who got it bad
We don’t realize that what we have can easily and quickly become what we had
There are people who are homeless, have incurable diseases and druggies out on the streets
But yet we too busy worried about the shoes we have on our feet?

I have a reason to smile, I have a reason to cheer
I have challenges in my life but I know things could be worst so I live my life without fear
I’m alive, I am here, I am healthy and I accomplished things that I never would before
And in my eyes, I have a lot to smile for

Everyone tells me how proud they are to see me blossom from a seed to a flower
I think about if I had a chance to start my life over would it take it? I think about everyday when I’m in the shower
The answer is no I wouldn’t take back anything that I did in the past because every mistake is a lesson learned
Mistakes produces experience, experience produces wisdom and once you have wisdom, you reached the point of no return

I came a long way, my family is definitely proud
I did what everyone said I couldn’t is what I scream to the crowd
College, two jobs, getting out of the hood- everything that I thought was impossible
