In the Mirror

Running cold water
Splashing on my ghostly
Face.
Eyes close,
Even for a second,
And I see it happen
Again.
Crash
Bang
Boom,
Is it done?
Flip
Twist
Land,
The car stops.
Open my eyes
And the after math
Is in my reflection.
Hot tears mix with
Cool drops of water.
The scars and horrors
Won’t wash away.
Five hundred
Splashes later
And I will still be here--
Ringing the memory
Off my ghostly
Face.
