She Helped A Man Die
A night of broken, restless sleep
Sad, grieving, angry, exhausted
This is war
This place is a war-zone
This man's body
Our battlefield
She does not find her work upsetting or depressing
A woman who conquered herself so that she could serve others
Moral courage is what's needed
Once you call it "life support"
How could you justify withholding it from anyone?
She always tried to be empathetic
She helped a man die
Nurses can often get fixated on death and dying
Forgetting about the success stories they had a part in
Why would they want to revisit such scenes of horror?
Mostly unconscious while in the tender love and care
Remember well
The soft, reassuring voices
With gratitude
Angles we have heard on high; sweetly singing over the plans
He's now gone
