Paradise
Paradise, a nasty word,
Often said, often heard.
But where can paradise be found?
In the sky or on the ground?
On what door should I pound?
Is it close, or far away?
If I find it, can I stay?
What cost would I have to pay?
Is paradise found on the beach?
At the dock, or out of reach?
Is it just beyond the setting sun?
Will I find it if I run?
Is the chase over, or has it just begun?
I’d stay there, maybe, if I could.
Find a way to stay, I would.
Maybe the sun would do me some good.
But still I wonder if I should.
Keep paradise under my execution hood.
