White petals
glow in the sunlight.
They feel smooth and silky.
The surrounding crisp,
green leaves begin to
bring out the color of
the beautiful Gardenia flower.

Cool grass sticks through my fingers.
Chills run through my body
as the fall breeze
blows through my hair.
Yellow, orange, and green leaves
fall onto the petals
of the white flower.

The stem pulls its way
out of the fresh soil.
It feels fuzzy and sticky
from the cold stem juice.
As the smell fills my nostrils,
I get a warm feeling inside
from the wonderful fragrance
of my favorite flower.

I feel at home
and enjoy every minute
of the breeze and
smell of the fall air.
