The Kill
The herbior mammoth
Boney and brittle, its vastness was forgotten.
As big as an Elephant, and a massive trunk,
This prehistoric giant roamed anywhere pleased.
He was alive, grazing the Earth, blood flowing.
Hunted by predators, tusks were valued as a prize.
Exploring grasslands and eating where he pleased.
But now humans grazed and explored where he once had.
Finding food was difficult, without being killed.
He had starved for weeks, and decided to risk it.
He feasted, pulling leaves off branches with his trunk.
He felt a prick, blood began rushing everywhere.
Dizzy, he laid down. Dozens of spears filled the sky.
He saw both darkness and light. But still endured pain.
