All the Peter Pans
I wish I were a bird,
or if i was young again, I wish I were Peter Pan.
Or a flying dinosaur.
One of the three would be nice.
When I was little I would cry and ask Peter Pan
to take me away.
Maybe I've asked to many Peters to take me.
Maybe I asked to many Pans to save me.
But now I'm ready to save myself.
Save myself from another Peter Pan.
Because I'm taking flight,
and I'm never looking back.
They can't stop me,
I have no anchor.
no rope attached to my waist to help bring me down.
I cut the rope long ago,
took me long enough
because all I had was a rusted blade,
worn from carving patterns
into my heart.
It was passed down from each of the Peter Pan's.
But I've stolen the blade,
taken it from my scarred and worn out heart.
And i cut the ropes.
I'm taking flight.
