Or opt out.
Isn't it a shame
that the fingerprints
branded on my wrist
are yours,
autographing my skin in
your pinwheels, loops, and ridges,
but you won't let me
press them
into my palm
the way I'd like to,
(oh, I'd like to)
since other people
might see that you're
not nearly as free
as you allude.
Ain't it just
a worthy enough cause,
so that if I were to
hold up signs
dancing for donations
you still wouldn't stop
to lend me what's mine.
Waste an hour with me,
and we'll play
I-spy
with the shadows of gold things
until I finally get up the nerve
to ask you
if
you ever really loved me
at all.
