Splinters
I am a popsicle stick
Thin and pliable
Bend me too far
And I just might
Break
Snapped in two
Like the jagged pieces
Of a puzzle
But one piece is missing
See the gap?
You can never fill it
Twist and turn
Shove and smash
All that’s left is splinters
Scattered on the floor
Sprinkled on your sleeves
Jammed under your fingernails
But isn’t that the way
You wanted me to be?
