when i'm showering
your warm skin
next to mine
the cold water overhead
dampening every inch
of our bare bodies
i want you there

when i'm crying
because i don't know
who or what to trust
your tender forefinger
wiping away the
misguided tears of
my lack of trust
your goofy smile
in between your dimples
vanishing my worries
as reality ebbs
for a frozen moment
i want you there

when i'm flinging
my flightless body
from this cliff
into an unknown abyss
hoping as i near
the bottom that you'll
catch me like we've
promised we'd do
for each other
i know you're there
waiting to catch me
in your arms

i want you there

i hope you're there

The author's comments:
The poem is the epilogue of To Someone I Thought I Knew...But Didn't. (By the way, there's a small inside joke in here, because I actually wrote this for someone.)

1) Thank you. 2) Awe. 3). I know right? Who knows what Teenink really likes? But I'm happy they did allow this poem to be here. Thank you. Love ya, too.

Don't tell me how to live my life; I do what I want.

I have just two things to say to this: 1.) Made me tear up. Seriously. 2.) I'm surprised they actually let you post this, considering the part about the shower...xD Love you, hon.

Thanks, dancer. That's my dream as a writer. To be able to write in more than just one genre. I appreciate that comment.

That's love. I don't know much about it. Or as much as I'd like to know. But I know that it's all based on hope. There's always some layer of doubt. Even if it's as thin as an onion's skin. Thank you for the lovelovelovelove for this poem. I appreciate it as always.

"Never let the future disturb you. You will meet it, if you have to, with the same weapons of reason which today arm you against the present." --Marcus Aurelius

The flinty little scrap of doubt at the very end... I love that. Through the whole poem, you want him/her there, but you recognize, it all comes down to that very last moment.. And all you can do is hope. LoveitIloveitIloveit. Tender without being overly emotional. Perfect.
