Little Word
I try to think of all the words
that remind me of you- and I- and us,
but I find myself coming to the realization
that love is not words.
Not even “love" describes it.
It’s a feeling that has no concrete meaning-
no lines, dots or squiggles can define it
for it is not concrete.
Love floats around us- picks us up, tosses us around.
It leaves us thinking, wondering every waking moment
of what is happening with the two of us
how we are becoming more of one,
but still staying so completely ourselves.
It’s a difficult concept and hard to explain,
but that’s the beauty of it.
Because once we know that the word
is not the feeling, then we know that we know
just what that little word means.
