Another Time
The whispers of the wind
are calling me
Back to the dense woods
where I belong
Every night is another journey
that seems part of
a different world
where I was all along
A journey to a space in time
where people didn't judge you
by the color of your skin
or how much money you made
The woods where I ran
and did all the things
that little girls do
There was even an imaginary friend
She never judged me
we played all day
and we didn't see the world
just as black and white,
we saw the gray in between, too
We saw the world as it was
But we didn't try to hide the fact
that are clothes were to short, and hair frayed
we embraced what we went into
