Who Am I Really?
Who am I,
really?
I am an adventure,
the awkward little nerd with her between between the pages of
EVERY BOOK in the library,
the author of my fantasy,
the Saturday morning bike rides with my Dad,
the smile of innocence, but mindset of deceivability.
I am not who you think I am.
I am not a welcome mat that you walk over.
I am not categorized by my race, gender, or my residence.
I am not someone to be taken for granted.
I am not speakless.
I am not to be underestimated.
I am not society's punching bag
I am the graceful steps of Misty Copeland,
the confidence of Lady Gaga,
the independence of Beyonce,
the voice of urban youth,
the image of society's future, exciting yet unpredicable.
I am enigmatic but simple,
unusual but ordinary,
isolated but surrounded.
Most of all, I am me,
a girl with so much to offer.
I'm who I was,
who I am,
who I will become.
Really.
