The Shimmering Skies over a September Youth
We gaze upon these stars tonight,
Facing up on the night time sky,
Anxious for the near future in sight,
But cherishing every second as it drifts by
Darkness hides us from our spurious lives,
Since the long gone setting of the sun
Our nocturnal spirits begin to thrive;
For, the day has grown old, but we are still young.
The moon to the left hangs large, heavy and low,
As we sing, laugh and seize our sanguine souls.
We leave our problems off until tomorrow,
Because in this moment our youth is worth gold
So staring up at the Gods above,
Those glimmering crystals slowly swimming in a dark sky’s sea,
I make my doubtful wishes of peace and love,
And desperately wonder if the Gods might stare back at me.
For tonight, I feel irrefutably free.
