Words Hurt
It doesn’t matter,
I don’t mind.
I’m tough.
No one sees through the mask I wear.
One word, one insult,
Is like being pierced by a spear.
Holding in my tears,
I walk away,
Not knowing how to react.
When I lay in bed I once more remember,
“You’re not good enough!”
With bruises and cuts everywhere,
I cry in pain.
Helplessly I lay.
Healthy on the outside,
Inside dying.
Why do I suffer?
I have hidden scars left unnoticed,
And all this to say,
Words hurt.
