A Struggle
I see them looking, I sense their eyes.
I hear them talking, spreading another lie.
Weeping for friends, screaming to belong,
their shallow words weaken my confidence.
I am a ship lost out at sea
floating adrift, no one saves me.
I stand in the shadows, a world filled with sorrows.
I am so close yet so far,
from everything and everyone.
Overlooked or stepped on, a thrust into oblivion.
Silent protest unheard,
innocent mind disturbed.
The struggle to hide all that hurts inside,
while being pushed aside.
Slowly the ice creeps in,
the coldness of winter
freezes from heart to skin.
