That Something Beautiful
I may not know what it was
Or how it came to be
Or why it had to fade away
far too quickly
I only know that it was
You and I put simply
I may not know how you
arrived in my arms
Or how our beating hearts
found the same warmth
I only know
we were destined to fall apart
I may not know what any of it means
Or how it has changed me
Or why I didn't quite believe
I only know it was something
Quite extraordinary
That something beautiful
Even if only for a fleeting moment
Did exist
Something simple between us
And my deepest secret?
That you are still that whom I miss
you and that something beautiful.
