Will you hear me cry
Will you hear me if I cry
Above the thunder of anger
Over blasts of fear and hate
Will help come
Or not at all
Or comes too late
When streets explode with fire
And hearts grow dead with grief
And there's no relief
Will you hear me cry
Come before I die
Or just leave me behind
When word on the street is somebody
died
But you can take it back
You'll see that smile
At least for a little while
Then hope night isn't long
And pray that'll stay strong
Until somebody else is gone
These nights are full of gunshots
So you know it can't be right
But drown the sorrow with my love
To take back the night
