Why would you hurt me?
You told me you loved me
And I believed you like an utter fool.
I knew from the beginning your feelings would change.
I knew you better than anyone ever could.
I’ve seen it enough and it’s happened before.
It was unlikely you would love me for long.
But for the time that you did,
I felt more love than I even though possible.
It was different from anyone else,
And I know you knew that, too.
If you felt as I did and still do,
I have to wonder what changed,
And what am I supposed to do?
